Your journey, step by step

The sites you will stand at, and why they matter

A suggested loop through the sacred places and historical places around Makkah, the important places of the Seerah. Reorder it, add to it, or linger anywhere: the route is yours.

  1. Jabal al-Nour and the Hira Cave

Jabal al-Nour is where the Prophet Muhammad received his first revelation, in the Cave of Hira near its summit. Many pilgrims climb, many pray at the base: both are ziyarat, and your driver waits either way. On maps it is spelled Jabal al Nour or Jabal al Noor; the mountain answers to both.

  2. Jabal Thawr

The cave where the Prophet Muhammad and Abu Bakr sheltered during the Hijrah, while their pursuers stood close enough to be heard. Visitors stand at the foot of the mountain and the story does the climbing.

  3. Mount Arafat and Jabal al-Rahmah

The plain where the Prophet Muhammad delivered his farewell sermon, and where Hajj reaches its peak each year. Outside the season it is quiet, and Jabal al Rahmah, the Mount of Mercy, is yours to stand on almost alone.

  4. Mina and Muzdalifah

The tent city of Hajj and the plain of the night under open sky, driven through slowly with time to stop. For anyone preparing for a future pilgrimage, seeing the geography of Hajj settles it in the heart.

  5. Masjid al-Taneem, and perhaps a second Umrah

Masjid al-Taneem is 6 kilometers from Masjid al Haram and serves as the miqat for those already in the city. Some travelers call it Masjid Taneem, many finish their ziyarat here, enter ihram, and return to the Haram to perform Umrah again. The driver, as always, waits.

Compare your options

Every way to do ziyarat in Makkah, honestly compared

The sites themselves are free, so what you are really buying is the moving between them and the freedom while you are there. One question separates the options: when you walk away from the car, is it still there when you come back?

Good to know

Three things worth knowing before you fly

01

Timing your ziyarat

  • After Fajr is coolest and quietest; late afternoon gives the softest light at Arafat
  • Traffic congestion around holy sites can impact travel during prayer times
  • Many pilgrims do ziyarat the day after arrival, once Umrah is complete
  • In Hajj season some sites restrict access; we route around it and tell you honestly
02

Climbing Jabal al-Nour

  • The climb to the Hira Cave takes 45 to 90 minutes each way and is genuinely steep
  • It is optional: standing at the base is ziyarat too, and the view explains itself
  • Carry water, wear real shoes, and go early; the driver waits however long it takes
  • Elderly pilgrims and families with children usually pray at the base, unrushed
03

Beyond this tour

  • Sightseeing here is pilgrimage: dress modestly and keep site etiquette, and visitors of every age are welcome
  • Staying in Medina next? Our Madinah ziyarat covers Quba, Uhud and more
  • Landing at Jeddah Airport first? Our transfers reach every Makkah hotel
  • Travelers spend nothing at the sites themselves: entry is free at every one

Questions

Makkah ziyarat taxi, answered

How much does a taxi cost for a Ziyarat in Makkah?

A private sedan taxi costs 200 SAR for 3 hours, the 7-seater MPV costs 250 SAR for a standard tour, the 11-seater minibus is 300 SAR, and the VIP SUV is 350 SAR for the standard 3-hour circuit. Need longer? Hourly pricing is 80 SAR for sedans and 100 SAR for vans. Every price is per vehicle with transparent pricing, no hidden fees, and no advance deposit is required.

How much for Makkah Ziyarat overall?

Less than most expect, because the sacred sites themselves are free: there are no tickets at Jabal al-Nour, Arafat, Mina or Masjid al-Taneem. Your only real cost is the moving between them, so a family of four in a SAR 200 sedan does the entire ziyarat for about SAR 50 per person, including all the waiting.

Which places are included in the Makkah ziyarat?

The classic circuit covers Jabal al-Nour and the Cave of Hira, Jabal Thawr, Mount Arafat with Jabal al-Rahmah, Mina and Muzdalifah, and Masjid al-Taneem. Ziyarat taxis allow direct access to major sacred sites in Makkah, and you can add optional stops or drop any site: the itinerary is fully flexible.

How long does the ziyarat tour take?

Ziyarat taxi trips generally last 3 to 5 hours, influenced by traffic and stops. The driving between sites is short; what stretches the tour is you, and that is the point. Pilgrims can customize their ziyarat schedule without fixed timings, so a contemplative five hours costs only the modest hourly extension.

Does the driver really wait at every site?

Yes, at every single one, however long you take. Climb to the Hira Cave for two hours or sit at Arafat until the light changes: the car is where you left it, cooled and ready. This is the whole difference between a dedicated ziyarat taxi and app rides that end the moment you step out.

Can I customize the route, skip sites, or add stops?

Completely. You can customize your Makkah ziyarat itinerary freely: no fixed schedule is required, you choose how long to stay at each site, optional stops are welcome, and you can start your journey at any preferred time, day or night. Tell the driver as you go; it is your tour, not a timetable.

Which ziyarat taxi service is best in Makkah?

Apply three tests before booking any operator: a licence you can verify, since licensed transportation providers are recommended for pilgrim transport in Saudi Arabia; a price fixed in writing before you ride; and reviews readable at their source. Hujjaj Umrah Taxi is Ministry of Hajj and Umrah registered, on the Nusuk platform, and holds 4.9 from 146 Tripadvisor reviews with 5.0 on Google, with vetted drivers on every tour.

How much is a taxi in Makkah generally?

Short city hops are inexpensive, and apps handle them well. Ziyarat is a different product: five or six destinations, waiting at each, over several hours. Priced ride by ride it adds up fast and leaves you stranded between sites; priced as one 3-hour tour at SAR 200 it is both cheaper and calmer.

Is Uber cheaper than taxis in Saudi Arabia?

For a single trip across town, usually yes, and Uber and Careem work fine in Makkah for that. For ziyarat the math inverts: five sites means five separate requests, surge pricing where pilgrims gather, waits in the heat between rides, and no car waiting while you pray. One fixed tour beats six gambles.

Is the tour suitable for elderly pilgrims and families with children?

It is built for them. Taxi services reduce physical strain during visits to sacred sites: air conditioned door to door travel, no walking between distant locations, rest in the vehicle whenever needed, and a pace set entirely by your group. The climb at Jabal al-Nour is optional, and praying at the base is ziyarat in full.
