How taxis actually work inside Madinah

Where a taxi can drop you around Masjid an-Nabawi
Around each prayer, and for most of the day in Ramadan and Hajj, the roads around the courtyards close to every vehicle. Every taxi in Madinah, ours or an app's, therefore drops on the outer ring and the rest is a short walk across the marble. From Sultanah and the west the natural drop is the Bab as-Salam side; from Qurban and the south it is the King Fahd Gate side; from Al Aziziyah and the north it is the northern plazas near the Bab Uthman and Bab Umar. Madinah traffic, hour by hour
The city moves on the prayer clock, but more gently than Makkah. The thirty minutes before each Adhan are the busiest on the roads into the centre, and the twenty minutes after the prayer ends are the busiest out. Fridays add half an hour around Jumu'ah. Leave a ring-road hotel 30 minutes before Fajr and the ride is eight minutes; leave at the Adhan and it can be twenty-five, with the last stretch sealed. Late morning and the hour after Isha are the quiet windows for errands.
What changes in Ramadan and Hajj
In Ramadan the closed zone widens, Tarawih and Tahajjud add two more peaks, and the last ten nights make the central area a pedestrian city from Maghrib onward. In Hajj season, when pilgrims arrive in Madinah before or after Makkah, the plazas are sealed for most of the day and only permit-holding pilgrim transport moves freely. How the Quba trip works
Masjid Quba, the first mosque of Islam, is 5 km south of the Prophet's Mosque along Quba Road. The Sunnah is to make wudu at home or the hotel, travel to Quba and pray two rak'ah, which carries the reward of an Umrah. The driver takes you out, waits while you pray, and brings you back to the hotel or the Haram: about 40 minutes door to door, from SAR 60 for a sedan with the wait included. Pilgrims who want Quba, Qiblatain, Uhud and the Seven Mosques in one unhurried morning book the separate Madinah ziyarat taxi instead.
When an hourly driver beats single trips
Two rides a day are cheaper as single trips. Four or more usually are not, and the hour rate also buys something a single trip cannot: the car stays with you, so you enjoy comfort and convenience between stops. A morning covering a pharmacy, the date market, Al Noor Mall and a return for Dhuhr is three hours of sedan at SAR 80 an hour, with the bags locked in the boot and the AC running while you pray. Families with elderly parents, and anyone doing all five prayers from a hotel in Sultanah or Qurban, usually take a day rate instead.
How to give your pickup location
Madinah hotels cluster by district and several share similar names, so give the hotel's full name and the district (Markaziyah, Sultanah, Qurban, Al Aziziyah, Al Khalidiyah), and send a WhatsApp location pin if you can. For pickups after prayer, name the gate you will exit from and we meet you at the closest open point on that side.
