Everything you need to know about the Miqat stop on the Medina to Makkah route — and how we accommodate it in your journey.
The Miqat is the designated boundary point at which a Muslim pilgrim must enter the state of Ihram before proceeding towards Makkah for Umrah or Hajj. For pilgrims travelling from Medina, the Miqat is Masjid Dhul Hulaifah, also known as Abyar Ali or Bir Ali.
Masjid Dhul Hulaifah is located approximately 9 km from the centre of Medina, very close to the city. It is the farthest Miqat from Makkah — approximately 450 km away — and the most commonly used Miqat for pilgrims whose journey begins in Medina.
At the Miqat, male pilgrims change into their two white unsewn cloths (the Ihram garment) and female pilgrims ensure they are in modest, clean clothing. Both then make the Niyyah (intention) for Umrah or Hajj and begin reciting the Talbiyah: "Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk..."
When you WhatsApp to book, mention that you need a Miqat stop. We will plan the route accordingly.
Have your Ihram packed and accessible in your hand luggage for easy access at the Miqat.
The driver pulls up at Masjid Dhul Hulaifah (Bir Ali). You have time to enter the masjid, change, make Niyyah and recite the Talbiyah.
